The Farmington/Farmington Hills Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Our mission is to “foster investment in innovative educational opportunities to benefit the students of Farmington Public Schools.” Since our inception in 2012, the Foundation has awarded more than $400,000 in innovation grants to teachers, community organizations and Farmington Public Schools. Awards funded technology-based programs and activities in academic, music, special education and physical education classrooms; field trips to the Festival of the Arts and to a "Health Exploration" event; and middle school and high school Robotics teams and TechGirls, a program which encourage girls to investigate careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The Foundation also provided financial support to high school athletic teams, music clinics, digital photography, diversity student leadership workshops, Galileo teacher leadership training, music sensory in early childhood special education, Destination Imagination and "Hands on Your Food" cooking & gardening classes.
We also serve as a facilitator for numerous scholarships offered to graduating seniors attending further education. We coordinate the award of over 25 different scholarships that are offered by various community members and organizations or through donations to specific, named scholarships.
Additionally, we manage several designated funds for school related organizations that need a "home" for their finances. The largest and most active of these funds is for the very successful "Hackbots" robotics team that participates every year in the FIRST robotics competitions.
