The Leopold Joseph Dreiling Memorial Scholarship is a heartfelt tribute to an extraordinary individual whose life was defined by kindness, dedication, and a profound commitment to others. This special scholarship honors Leopold Joseph Dreiling, a Westminster Public Schools graduate remembered as a compassionate son, brother, and friend who went out of his way to help those in need, leaving an enduring mark on his community.

Leopold exemplified the spirit of perseverance and service. Throughout his high school years, he balanced a rigorous schedule, excelling in academics as part of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program and graduating with a 3.2 GPA. Beyond the classroom, he was an active participant in school and club sports, assisted with his family’s business, and worked at a local restaurant. His senior quote, “Thrive under pressure and surpass expectations,” reflected his resilient and ambitious character.

Although Leopold earned a scholarship to study engineering at the South Dakota School of Mines, he chose a different path, prioritizing work and family. He eventually built a meaningful career in the pharmaceutical industry, where he contributed to making life-saving medicines.

This scholarship seeks to celebrate and carry forward Leopold’s legacy by supporting Westminster Public School District senior students who embody his values: hard work, resilience, and a commitment to serving others. It aims to recognize students who, like Leopold, strive to make a difference through their actions and inspire others with their dedication and character.
